Independent by design
SilverHawk is a research project and a tool at the same time: it is documented in open preprints, and it is released for anyone who designs with Grasshopper.
Why it exists
Design optimization on real models works with a few hundred to a few thousand evaluations, while most solver research assumes far more. SilverHawk started from that gap: solvers and a selector tuned for small budgets, and a workflow that lets a designer compare them on their own model. The methods and results are described in the preprints.
Independent, free, reproducible
The project is currently developed without external funding. That is why it is free to use, why it collects no usage data, and why every release is versioned and archived: published results can be traced back to the exact build that produced them.
Working with others
Open to research collaborations, case studies on real design models, and institutional partnerships. The most useful form of support is practical: cite the preprints, share a model or a result, and send the DOI of work that uses SilverHawk so that it can be listed on the Research page.
